BOC Edwards upgrades floor for new facility
Established in 1880, BOC Edwards are the world leaders in vacuum technology. They serve the world’s most advanced and challenging industries, including semi-conductors, chemical, pharmaceutical, metallurgical and scientific instrumentation.
When new fluorine generation equipment was to be installed at their Thornton-Cleveleys site, it was decided that a purpose, dedicated facility was required. On their existing site they had a redundant building, which they decided to refurbish. The existing floor was an assortment of old ceramic tiles, and “60’s” vinyl tiles with carpeting in the previous office areas. A uniform finish throughout the entire area, as a semi-clean room facility, was required.
Gallagher’s provided a range of options including the removal of all the old surfaces and specialist floor preparation to achieve a perfect finish to receive epoxy resin systems. Our fast cure, high build, heavy duty, penetrating primer system throughout the surface was applied, before any coloured coating system was installed. The viscous primer used, was a tough wearing surface in itself, before the strong epoxy resin coloured coatings were applied.
BOC Edwards chose an attractive layout of BS 10 A 03 (Cloud) Grey and Jade Green. The contrasting yellow safety lining in a two part epoxy resin, complimented the final finish. The result was an attractive and easily cleaned, professional surface that created the right environment for an advanced and high tech facility.
Paul Desborough (Project Manager) was delighted with the works and said that Gallagher’s contract staff were a “Thoroughly helpful team, worked hard and obviously have pride in their work.”
