Johnson Controls get a racetrack
When you drove to work today, it is highly likely that your seat was manufactured by one of the Johnson Controls sites in the world, as they are the global leaders in automotive interiors.
The automotive industry is totally structured around ‘Just in Time’ deliveries. Gallagher’s have installed epoxy resin coating systems at both the Wednesbury and Telford sites. The recent upgrade at Wednesbury was required when an additional manufacturing “racetrack” facility for the production of automated moulded foam seats was being installed, to cope with a further increase in demand.
Gallagher’s provided their own ‘JIT’ solution by working through the night, over a weekend period. The new concrete was carefully prepared using enclosed vacuum blast tracking to provide a key into the surface, whilst drawing out the laitance. Fast cure epoxy resin coloured coating systems in their corporate colour scheme of RAL 6032 Green, was manufactured specifically for them.
To complete the upgrade, the existing manufacturing facility (which Gallagher’s had completed some years previously) was recoated. As a result, the whole facility had a uniform high standard finish, ready for Sunday night’s production.
Specialist lining and lettering was installed the following week, to comply with the stringent Health and Safety standards, which exist in all Johnson Control sites worldwide.
